We are refreshing the www.yrdsb.ca website and our school websites, and invite you to share your feedback through a brief survey. The information from the surveys will help us ensure that the content, navigation and layout meet the needs of students, families and community members.
Our websites provide important information about our school and Board, resources to help your child succeed, school programs and more.
The two-part survey is anonymous, confidential and voluntary, and should take about 10-15 minutes to complete. If you have any questions please contact communications@yrdsb.ca.
The survey will be available until June 12 atbit.ly/YRDSBwebsurvey.

7th Annual Litter Round-Up

Dear Parents/Guardians,

School grounds and community clean up events make a difference. These actions, although small, have significant positive impacts on the environment and demonstrate the power of working together. In fact, if only 5% of Canada’s population picked up 1kg of litter in one day, 1.4 million kg of garbage would not pollute our environment!

At Pine Grove, we will be participating in a School Grounds Clean Up campaign on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019 (Rain Date: Thursday, April 18th, 2019) to demonstrate our commitment to creating a healthy and sustainable world. Teachers will take their students outdoors to pick up litter on the school grounds for 15 minutes before morning recess. Each student will be asked to bring gloves (preferably reusable). Students will be informed of safe and proper procedures for collecting and disposing of litter.

Participating in a School Grounds Clean Up will build environmental stewardship and teach students the importance of reducing, reusin…

Tips for Speaking with Your Child After a Tragic Event

In light of the recent tragic event in New Zealand at two Mosques this resource may be useful to parents in our community. This was taken from the YRDSB website - Home:Programs & Services:Caring and Safe Schools:Tips for Speaking with your Child after a Tragic Event

Tips for Speaking with your Child after a Tragic Event 1. Reassure children that they are safe. Emphasize that schools are very safe. Validate their feelings. Explain that all feelings are okay when a tragedy occurs. Let children talk about their feelings, help put them into perspective, and assist them in expressing these feelings appropriately. 2. Make time to talk. Let their questions be your guide as to how much information to provide. Be patient. Children and youth do not always talk about their feelings readily. Watch for clues that they may want to talk, such as hovering around while you do the dishes or yard work. Some children prefer writing, playing music, or doing an art project as an outlet. Young children ma…

Kindergarten Registration - Now ONLINE!

Online Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for September 2019 begins January 18 for the 2019-20 school year.
This year, our school is excited to be one of the pilot schools in the Board offering online registration for Kindergarten.
Children who turn four or five years old during 2019, live within the school boundary and whose parents are public school tax supporters will be eligible to register for kindergarten.
If you, or someone you know, is registering a child for Kindergarten at our school, you can access the online registration information at bit.ly/KindergartenYRDSB. Please note that for this pilot, a laptop or desktop computer is strongly recommended, rather than a mobile device.
Families are still welcome to register in person in the school office.  Registration forms are available on the Board’s website at www.yrdsb.ca.
