Pine Grove is excited to invite our Junior and Intermediate students to Education Arts Canada's brand new performance, The Secret Life of Riley K, right in our very own gymnasium on Wednesday, February 28th, 2018. "12 year-old Riley K, is a clever, ambitious girl who strives for a perfect life.  But the prospect of giving a big speech leads to a perfect mess!  She is surprised to learn that her sick stomach was not the flu, but anxiety.  Riley discovers she isn’t alone with these challenges and that help is nearby."

"This beautifully-produced, curriculum-integrated show, stimulates real discussion and learning amongst students.  The Secret Life of Riley K was created by Juno award-winning musical writers, Judy and David Gershon, and by Canadian director and playwright, Ali Joy Richardson, along with guidance from a team of mental health specialists.  It was all made possible with the assistance of the Ontario Trillium Foundation."

National Sweater Day - Thursday, February 1, 2018

Thursday, January 25, 2018
Dear Parent / Guardian,
Our school will be taking part in National Sweater Day on Thursday, February 1, 2018! National Sweater Day is an annual event organized by World Wildlife Fund Canada. On National Sweater Day, WWF asks Canadians to turn down thermostats by two degrees Celsius at home, at school and at work to highlight the role that energy conservation plays in preventing climate change.
Our school buildings will be a little chillier on February 1, so we are asking that all students wear or bring a sweater to school.
In addition to turning down the heat and turning up our sweaters, classes will be participating in a number of activities designed to help students understand how everyday actions affect our planet’s future.
We are looking forward to a cozy day in the classroom! To learn more about National Sweater Day, please visit

Conquering Anxiety for Adults

Reminder - Kiss & Ride Safety

This is just a friendly reminder of our drop off protocol and routines for Pine Grove P.S. In light of the tragic events that occured recently at a Toronto school this January, where a 5 year old was critically injured and later succumb to those injuries dying in hospital (, it is necessary for all parents, guardians, staff and students to recognize the hazards that exist when parents are dropping off and picking up children in our parking lot and bus loop.

Please revisit the information below and follow the routines. It's really all about one thing...the saftey of children and everyone else that visit PG on a daily basis.

Welcome Back!

Welcome back to Pine Grove and Happy New Year! I'm looking forward to an exciting year of learning and fun at PG in 2018. I hope that everyone had a relaxing and restful break with time to spend with family celebrating the holidays that are part of your traditions. I also hope that everyone found time to get outside and brave the chilly temperatures and engage in some winter activities like snowshoeing, skating, skiing, snowboarding or some good old fashioned tobogganing.

Please be mindful that winter is in full swing and the cold temperatures require all students to be dressed accordingly. I would like everyone to know that we are constantly monitoring weather on a daily basis. Please remember that students always go out for recess unless extreme temperatures are encountered. YRDSB has an extreme weather weather policy that helps inform schools when to reduce recess time due to extreme cold temperatures that also include wind chill. We consult Environment Canada at www.weatheroff…
