Administrators Message

As we move into the month of June, it's worth reminding our students, parents/guardians, and staff that it's important to come prepared for the warmer weather. Please be mindful that hats are encouraged for students to wear and sunscreen should be applied prior to arriving at school so that when your children go out for recess they are well protected against the sun's harmful rays. Don't forget sunscreen on cloudy or overcast days too!

The popularity of fidget toys is growing at Pine Grove P.S. and in communities all around us. Please remember that fidget spinners have a purpose for those students that need them, as opposed to being a distracting toy. If your child requires a fidget spinner or fidget toy, please communicate that with their homeroom teacher. Staff have identified that some students are being distracted from their learning because of fidget spinners. If your child has a fidget spinner as a toy, please keep it at home for them to play with.

We have an upcoming BBQ on June 15 from 6-8 pm hosted by School Council. Please check your child's backpack for a paper flyer that was handed out and School Cash Online for more information. It would be great to see as many PG families and community members as possible.

Sincerely,

Greg Brown
Principal

Pine Grove is excited to invite our Junior and Intermediate students to Education Arts Canada's brand new performance, The Secret Life of Riley K, right in our very own gymnasium on Wednesday, February 28th, 2018. "12 year-old Riley K, is a clever, ambitious girl who strives for a perfect life.  But the prospect of giving a big speech leads to a perfect mess!  She is surprised to learn that her sick stomach was not the flu, but anxiety.  Riley discovers she isn’t alone with these challenges and that help is nearby."

"This beautifully-produced, curriculum-integrated show, stimulates real discussion and learning amongst students.  The Secret Life of Riley K was created by Juno award-winning musical writers, Judy and David Gershon, and by Canadian director and playwright, Ali Joy Richardson, along with guidance from a team of mental health specialists.  It was all made possible with the assistance of the Ontario Trillium Foundation."

The cost of the performance is…
